FWG Island

"Very Bugged."

In reality, accomplishing your objective quickly is almost always good for your cause. In this game, not so much. You can exploit the nature points system and milk each level for far more points with which to build massive defenses and upgrade your weapon instead of adding trees. Therefore, by neglecting the primary objective the game becomes absurdly easy.

DEATHWORM

"Promising, but poor."

You've got a good game here. It's a shame there isn't more to it. I'd like progressively larger levels with some sort of momentum bonus so that you start out slow and are able to get more and more bonuses to jumps depending on how much you destroy.

As a game play feature, I 'd also suggest <hold space> to charge a jump and <release space> to fire the jump so that you don't have to wait.

After I broke 1,000 points there wasn't much else for me to do, but I like the concept and I hope there is a sequel made with better and more gameplay.

"The Most Underrated Flash Animation on Newgrounds"

date: October 15, 2007

After almost two years of having this on my favorites list, putting time between first viewing it and now, I am convinced this is an epic work that comes along once every few millenniums.

I am put into a state of awe every time I view it.

All hail McBean.

The Impossible Quiz

"Incredible Flash."

This is epic, and you just caused a stock market crash from all the internets you won. The market could not correct itself after all the supply went into your hands so quickly. I hope you're proud of yourself.

You should be, this is one of the best things I've seen on New Grounds in a long time. Great work.

File Wars

"Much potential, little delivery."

submission: File Wars

This game is okay, but it could be so much better. The pulsing background, as has been said, hinders gameplay, as do the movement controls.

Holding down your left mouse fires slower than hitting it repeatedly, much slower. Therefore, it takes some skill out of gameplay and puts it into who can hit their mouse button fast enough for the longest time. But that doesn't even really matter because it's impossible to die in this. I'm fairly certain the blue power-ups are putting my "memory" at over 100. Because when I decided to stop I had to sit there for about thirty seconds purposely getting hit by the things before my memory started going down on the HUD. I wasn't even sure what the red power-ups did, but I assumed it had something to do with my attack.

My suggestion would be to make the amount of memory gained from the blue power-ups less, cap the memory at 100 and give points for getting blue power-ups while at full health. Red power ups increase attack speed, give additional attack tiers (2 parallel columns of fire instead of one, waving shots, exploding shots, etc.) and work on the gameplay over the graphics. Graphics always come second to gameplay. This is a well made game and you should make it perfect!

Doula-Ball

"Horrid."

submission: Doula-Ball

What an unworthy entry for frontpage. I don't know what the thought was, putting it there. This is neither a well-made game nor funny. The physics are absurd, the layout of the "pinball machine" simplistic and symmetrical, and the color scheme down right retarded. To put it as simple as your stupid game, here, you blow at making games.

You have an excellent game, here. Capital. The only thing I didn't like was the wind factor. It didn't effect the orbs but it effects the player -- that isn't fair. I'd prefer no wind and simply more orbs of varying density (not just size -- really dense, yet small orbs would be the hardest) Some way to distinguish desnity, maybe. Something about the wind only effecting the player is very detrimental to the immersion of the game, but on the whole it is very good. Flash games are very rarely any fun but you've got yourself the start of a prodigious one, for sure. Looking forward to your other games.

The Innards

"This game is made of horrible and fail."

submission: The Innards
date: April 21, 2006

This game is made of horrible and fail. Modest graphics, no style, obnoxious sound, poor gameplay, and many other aspects of this game have earned this submission a 1 out of 10.

This game draws from great games like Viviparous Dumpling and other games that drew on its good gameplay and surreal setting and idea. However, the makers of this game have proven themselves to be unimaginative posers trying to steal the success of others and failing miserably.

One flaw in this game is that it has no immersion; why is this body saturated with "cancerous cells," "power pills" and "danger pills?" What are you, retarded? At least try to scratch up some semblance of believability. It can't be surreal without "real," morons. Why are the enemies not "white blood cells," "antibodies," and "antibiotics?" Why are the larger cells (and thus, larger meals) worth fewer points than the small blood cells? Sure, it makes for slightly more challenging gameplay, but it isn't worth the sacrifice of not making any sense.

Your incentives in this game are completely backwards -- after two minutes of playing this game I quickly realized that I was being punished for gathering red blood cells by causing the cancerous cells to mysteriously go faster and my cell to grow larger and more cumbersome. Why don't I ever reproduce? Instead, I merely avoided ALL cells and collected pills which grant far larger bonuses than you'll ever get from collecting cells anyway, without having to grow larger or avoid faster moving cells. Sure, you could just remove that point bonus/subtraction from pills, but you'd be better off removing that AND fixing your incentives by making the gameplay genuinely more challenging instead of just artificially increasing the difficulty with cheap, age-old tactics for poor quality games such as increasing the speed without an explaination or weakening the main character. (By making it bigger, in this case.)

There is no hope for this peice of crap waste of time, but my suggestion to you for further projects would be to innovate instead of immitate, by really making the games more harder and by paying closer attention to the incentives you're setting for the player. Gameplay, setting, and story are the most important aspects of a game and in this case you have mercilessly raped each one and instead presented us with an atrocity.
